What’s Your Skin Type And How Could It Affect You?
Filed under Skin Care Tips & ArticlesAug 2There are many skin types. Depending on which one you have, you can be more likely to have certain skin problems, such as dry skin or acne. Let’s talk about each skin type and how it could affect you.
First, there’s normal skin. Normal skin looks mostly healthy. Although, sometimes you can have a little bit of dry skin around your cheeks. Normal skin also has medium sized pores. If you have good color and circulation, you probably have normal skin.
Unfortunately, most of us are not lucky enough to have naturally perfect skin. One of the skin problems that is fairly common, instead, is oily skin. If you have oily skin you will have larger pores. That will make you likely to develop unsightly zits. Your skin will also be shiny looking.
Another common problem is dry skin. If you have dry skin, a build up of dead skin cells will probably cause your skin to look dull and unhealthy. You’re also likely to experience flakiness, redness and wrinkles. Dry skin often feels tighter after you cleanse it, too, so it can be a real problem.
Last, but not least, there’s sensitive skin. You might think sensitive skin is just about sensitivity to the sun, but there’s more to it than that.
People with sensitive skin actually tend to have thinner skin than most and their pores tend to be finer. If you have sensitive skin, you might find that you blush quite often and you’ll be susceptible to rashes, broken capillaries and general skin irritation.
Although this list is a good place to start, there are lots of things that can affect your skin. So, you might not fall perfectly into any one category.
The next thing you need to understand is how you got whatever skin type you have. One way is through genetics. If your parents had a certain skin type, you might have that skin type too. That does not mean that your skin type fate is sealed, though. You have a lot of control over your skin type, believe it or not.
Your lifestyle can dictate your skin type in many cases. That means that if you’re stressed, take certain medications, have poor nutrition or other similar issues, you may find yourself with skin problems. Living a healthy lifestyle is one of the best skin care tips you can follow.
So, no matter which skin type you have, treat your skin well. Stay healthy and try to keep your stress levels low. If you still have skin problems after that, try over the counter medication. You could also consult a dermatologist. No matter what, though, now that you understand skin types, you will have a better understanding of how to deal with whatever skin type you have.
